Of all the specialized Courts in the Municipal Court of Chicago, the Court of Domestic Relations lends itself best to Psychiatric reference. It is a Court that cross sections all the tensions and emotional disturbances that cause marital discord. It is not primarily a court of punishment and should never be extended to meet the popular and growing vogue of easy separation with resulting destruction of home. It is far better to continue it as a laboratory of search for the tensions and emotional disturbance causing a family rift and eliminate them. The true purpose of the court is reconstruction and not destruction of home. Hence to accomplish this purpose one can readily see the need of a modern and well equipped Psychiatric Institute.
