A history of psychology in autobiography Vol. VII.Robert R. Sears.

A history of psychology in autobiography Vol. VII.: Robert R. Sears. I suppose most contemplative people, nearing the end of their active careers, construct retrospective schemas for their lives. Love and work are usually central to them, at least for men. These are the areas that are most prepossessing in youth and through the following decades absorb the most attention and energy. In my schema, the two are intertwined more than for most men because psychology is my work and my wife is a psychologist. The broad structure of the pattern is very simple, having just two time-defined parts--the nineteen years before I simultaneously fell in love and became a psychologist, and all the years since. These latter are separated into geographically defined career segments, since that is my mnemonic device for ordering my past. Abstract

(PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2022 APA, all rights reserved)
