A lifetime of intelligence: Follow-up studies of the Scottish mental surveys of 1932 and 1947.Factors that preceded childhood IQ test scores.

A lifetime of intelligence: Follow-up studies of the Scottish mental surveys of 1932 and 1947.:... In this chapter, we discuss antecedents of scores on tests of intelligence at age 11, namely, sex, whether one is a twin, and birth weight. All of these factors are present at the moment of birth. Therefore, any strong correlations between these factors and childhood intelligence would seem to indicate that these factors influenced childhood intelligence. In the following sections, we discuss the findings of each factor in detail. The data discussed are drawn from the Scottish Mental Survey of 1932 (SMS1932) as well as the Scottish Mental Survey of 1947 (SMS1947). Abstract

(PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2024 APA, all rights reserved)
