A spiritual strategy for counseling and psychotherapy.A Theistic View of Psychotherapy.
Abstract
In this chapter we describe some of the distinctive features of a theistic psychotherapy orientation. Our view is grounded in the theistic conceptual framework we describe in previous chapters, which includes our theological premises (chap. 4), philosophical assumptions (chap. 4), and model of personality (chap. 5). This conceptual framework influences our understanding of (a) the purpose and goals of therapy, (b) the therapist's role in therapy, (c) the client's role in therapy, and (d) the nature of the therapy relationship.
