A note from the editor

A note from the editor A Note from the Editor Stan Zdonik J u l y 19, 1990 Welcome to the ACM SIGPLAN Messenger! This newsletter will be published quarterly as a forum for exchanging new ideas in object-oriented technology. It is sponsored by ACM SIGPLAN and will be similar in spirit to other SIG newsletters. As the field of object-oriented technology expands, there is a need to provide a channel for researchers and practitioners to discuss their thoughts and experience. This requires a publication which can bring results rapidly to members of the object-oriented technical community. The Messengerwill publish articles and announcements that pertain to practical and theoretical results in the areas of object-oriented languages, databases, systems, and applications. We are, of course, looking for material that is in some way unique and novel. Preliminary results or controversial approaches are quite appropriate in the spirit of a free exchange of ideas. Descriptions of experience with object-oriented technology would also be extremely relevant. We are soliciting articles and letters for subsequent issues. As with other ACM SIG publications, the Messengerwill be unrefereed to ensure that material is made available for discussion as quickly as possible.
