Editorial: Introduction to the ConferenceThis special issue of Art & Perception carries on the tradition of publishing the abstracts of the talks, posters and further contributions presented at a Visual Science of Art Conference (VSAC) in this journal. This time it covers the 8th installment of VSAC which took place in Amsterdam from the 24th to 27th August of 2022. Again, VSAC attracted a large number of participants who are devoted to the intersection of art and science. Actually, we registered more than 210 authors who generated 94 regular contributions, i.e., talks and poster presentations, plus a series of further contributions such as a tutorial about the very timely topic of AI (Artificial Intelligence) generated art and a special symposium on Rembrandt’s giant masterpiece The Nightwatch from 1642.We are pleased to present all available abstracts clustered into the topics assigned by the conference organization committee consisting of Maarten Wijntjes, Arjan de Koomen, Nim Goede, Catelijne van Middelkoop, Yuguang Zhao, Jeroen Stumpel, Cehao Yu, Margit Lukacs, Mitchell van Zuijlen, David Tiemstra, and Rob van Lier. All contributions went through a peer-review procedure realized by the program committee consisting of a multi-national team of experts from the field of art and perception:
