In 2010 Jesper Tae Jensen approached me about the possibility of hosting the second conference of Aspects of Ancient Greek Cult at the University of Copenhagen and the opportunity to honor Professor Emeritus Erik Hansen, a living legend in the study of ancient Greek architecture. As Director of the Danish Institute at Athens, I have since had the pleasure of supporting Erik Hansen and Professor Emeritus Gregers Algreen- Ussing on their project to identify the tracks and roads for the transportation of building material for the fourth-century BC Temple of Apollo at Delphi. The report on this important work appeared in the 8th volume of the Proceedings of the Danish Institute at Athens. I am very grateful to Jesper Tae Jensen for the opportunity to meet Erik Hansen as well as participate in three days of stimulating papers and debates on the correlation between architecture, ritual behavior, and music. I trust the conference proceedings will provide the readers with equal food for thought.
