PETERSBURG ­ GEMEINSAME MÖGLICHKEITEN GESTERN UND HEUTE Summary: In international relations former students at foreign universities play a visible role in economy, politics, science, research, culture and other areas of the civil society. Foreign students in Germany and German students abroad are the best advocate of bilateral cooperation. To make use the East-German capacity related to the former Soviet or other East-European universities still includes chances for development. The need for specialists and experienced researchers in high advanced technical studies is a valuable reason to keep the experience of combined training in spite of the declining optimism of former students with many years of experience. Russia and Germany had a very long history inside higher education and scholarly cooperation and this should be saved for the benefit of the civil societies. This case study reports one example of a continuation in the field of electronics. 1.
