“Regional Hospital Boards—Their Functions and Possibilities.”: "REGIONAL HOSPITAL BOARDS-THEIR FUNCTIONS AND POSSIBILITIES." Dr. W. J. T. Kimber, L.R.C.P., D.P.M. Dr. Kimber said that the recent debate on the cost of the Health Service and very considerable supplementary estimates which have become necessary justified the curiosity of his audience as to what the Regional Hospital Boards are doing for the service. There had been criticism of the cost of health service, but it was not the duty of those present to assess these factors against the needs of the community, but they clearly imposed a moral duty on all to see that the resources they control are not wasted. Dr. Kimber continued:- "We are not spending our lives tending a conveyor belt: it is our privilege to work in the direct service of our fellows and we owe it to them, not to a Management Committee which may not come up to our expectations, nor to the Regional Hospital Board, about which we know little, nor to a Minister of Health with political views which possibly we hold in abhorrence, but just to the men and women in our street, our neighbours, friends and acquaintances, to see that the money they are putting into it is http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Journal of the Association of Occupational Therapists SAGE
