St. Loyes School of Occupational Therapy, Exeter: welcome awaiting students was the completion of the central heating system which has been awaiting parts since the School opened-we feel we can face future winters with equanimity! We welcome Miss Preston as a full-time member of the Staff and Mr. Heron, F.R.C.S., as lecturer in Orthopaedics. Miss Hall, of the Social Science Department, Liverpool University, is giving a very helpful course -of lectures on 'Social Insurances, Past, Present and Future.' Another O'.T. Department has just opened, staffed by Miss Ross and students at Whiston Hospital, and present indications are that the work will be very varied. In a previous number of the Journal, Liverpool School was credited with interesting work on genetics. Actually we have no scheme at present for improving Homo Sapiens but are taking a great interest in the other end of the scale, namely, Geriatrics, at Belmont Hospital, where there is great scope for work amongst the old people and which is proving extremely helpfuL and satisfying from all angles.
