A Comprehensive Guide to Core Needle Biopsies of the Breast Pattern-Based Evaluation of Breast Core Needle Biopsies

A Comprehensive Guide to Core Needle Biopsies of the Breast : Pattern-Based Evaluation of Breast... [This chapter discusses a pattern-based approach to evaluating breast core biopsies. This is an alternative method which can be particularly helpful in the core biopsy setting due to several challenges. First, the core biopsy yields a specimen consisting of multiple tissue cores which are often fragmented and of limited amount. Second, the specimen constitutes only a sampling of the entire lesion in many cases which may or may not contain the necessary diagnostic features. Lastly, even common and easily recognizable histologic findings may be misinterpreted due to the first two reasons. The major patterns discussed herein are small glandular proliferations, spindle cell proliferations, and cystically dominated lesions. In addition, unique traits of secretions and calcifications often associated with certain lesions seen in core biopsies will be reviewed.] http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png

Abstract

In addition, unique traits of secretions and calcifications often associated with certain lesions seen in core biopsies will be reviewed.]
