[Barebacking is generally defined as “raw”1 sex, or as having sex without a condom.2 For people who take on the identity of barebacking, it is the intentional act of engaging in unprotected anal intercourse.3 It is a “contemporary ‘subculture’ of male homosexual risk,”4 where the act of engaging in unprotected sex is premeditated and eroticized.5]
