[What distinctive features does ancient Chinese mathematics possess? To answer this question, it is helpful to make a comparison with another familiar system of knowledge from the past. The ideal candidate for this purpose is, without doubt, ancient Greek mathematics, which not only exemplifies a paradigm for mathematical works in the West but also represents the pinnacle of spiritual achievement in ancient Greece. Another reason for such a comparison, however, stems from mathematics education.
