[Speculations abound on how best to design and deliver on such a momentous task as rearranging the very form and fabric of a living, dynamic, barely contained thing as a regional metropolis. The speculation leads to an attempt in this book to quantitatively arrange a plan for a new urban fabric in the transport corridors and nodes of the existing urban fabric. That this corresponds with where the city would eventually emerge with or without a plan is open for debate. The results can be shown to not only contribute to the land use and urban planning professions but also to those seeking to find how cities can contribute to economic opportunity, sustainable development, green growth and a smarter city.]
