[While the United States was still involved in the Vietnam War, another war in the Middle East brought the subject of chemical warfare back to the forefront. From 1963 reports began to filter out of the use of poison gas in the Yemeni Civil War. It was alleged that the gas was being used by the Egyptians on behalf of their allies, the Yemeni Republicans. The charges came from the Yemeni Royalists, their supporters, the Saudi Arabians, from journalists and finally, most authoritatively, from the International Red Cross.]
