[If, as we believe, the stage of consumerism is in its death throes, and if the new forms of so-called “capitalism” are largely unmanageable when it comes to utilizing any of the classical means of administration used in the past by capitalism, then we need to think about radical changes. If the panoply of new use-values on the horizon of the twenty-first century do not lend themselves to capitalist management even with a heavy visible hand of superstructural support, are they potentially manageable by various forms of democratic socialismdemocratic socialism? We believe they are, but we need to explore new ways of taming militarism, reversing global warming, finding new ways of transportation, policing, housing, and finally a much more democratic way of being mutually supportive of each other as we make the world more liveable.]
