Abstract

[Point-of-care ultrasonography (PoCUS) is increasingly employed in a variety of clinical settings such as emergency departments and critical care units. A part of PoCUS is point-of-care echocardiography which may be employed to provide rapid diagnosis for cardiorespiratory failure, elucidate causes of cardiac arrest, answer specific clinical questions, and facilitate goal-directed care, such as fluid management or inotropic support. Point-of-care echocardiography is increasingly employed by acute medicine practitioners such as emergency physicians, intensivists, and anaesthesiologists, allowing bedside cardiac structural and functional assessment to identify life-threatening pathology and augment the bedside cardiac examination to make better informed decisions for patient care.]
