[In the previous chapter a Kleinian way of seeing love was brought into discursive dialogue with views of romantic love as impossible (which assume an associative view of the mind and narcissistic ego only). Although Kleinian psychoanalysis offers us a view of love as possible, it does not offer us the science of loving lampooned by De Botton (see the previous chapter). Kleinian psychoanalysis, it has been argued, holds a dialectical view of the mind/ego and can acknowledge the possibility and impossibility of love. However, a Kleinian way of seeing love does not acknowledge the dialectical relationship between self and culture, agency and structure, and subjectivity and discursive positions.]
