A Puerto Rican Decolonial Theology: The Works of Rosario Ferré: Puerto Rican Hope and Christian... [This chapter explores selected works of Rosario Ferré, demonstrating how they communicate a reimagining of the colonial relationship with the USA through an examination of hope. After providing a brief biological sketch of Ferré, the chapter proceeds with a literary analysis of her works, demonstrating an emphasis on hope, including its absence, as a central theme which corresponds with the Christian doctrine of the end times (Christian eschatology). This chapter continues with a brief overview of various perspectives on that doctrine, engaging Christopher Morse’s Not Every Spirit: A Dogmatics of Christian Disbelief as a critical guide. This chapter concludes with a vision of a Puerto Rican decolonial eschatology that affirms a radical hope for “things yet unseen” from the Puerto Rican story and pointing toward a future transformed by self-determination.TopicsThe Works of Rosario FerréBiographical SketchLiterary Analysis: “Where do I go from here?”Puerto Rican hope in dialogue with the doctrine of eschatologyConstructing a prophetic decolonial Puerto Rican eschatology] http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png
