[In the previous chapter, the objectification of women in Nonhuman Animal rights spaces was argued to be ineffectual and theoretically counterintuitive. This chapter will extend this critique and address the perpetuation of race and ethnicity bias in social movement mobilization. A rational approach will necessitate a serious acknowledgment of racialized differences and discrimination. Harper (2010a) notes that Nonhuman Animal rights advocacy generally operates according to post-race ideology (the notion that race is no longer a significant variable), which likely reflects the white majority of its membership. This chapter will extend her critique and build a case for a race-sensitive vegan abolitionism. A rational approach to Nonhuman Animal liberation must be cognizant of continuing racial inequality to achieve effectiveness and theoretical consistency.]
