[This chapter assesses the current state of implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the existing approaches from an operational perspective to derive the operational gaps. Further, it provides a framework of a resilience approach for SDGs to bridge these operational gaps. The aim of a resilience approach for SDGs is to address systemic challenges (see Chapter 1) in and around SDGs to develop problem-solving oriented actions for transformation by operationalizing resilience, i.e., nurturing resilience in different layers of societies in harmony with nature. With regard to SDGs, nature, humans, societies, and communities have originally capacities to change, adapt, or recover; however, those capacities can be weakened or lost if they are impacted beyond their threshold by stresses, shocks, or adversities interrelated with systemic challenges surrounding SDGs. To avoid this situation, the resilience approach, which was developed to operate beyond disciplines and different kinds of knowledge including local and indigenous knowledge will contribute to formulating problem-solving oriented actions.]
