[Beamforming is a signal processing technique that is used in conjunction with an array of sensors to provide useful spatial filtering. Beamforming requires processing the data collected over a spatial aperture in order to achieve spatial discrimination of received signals. This spatial discrimination serves as an additional degree of signal separation that can be used with other signal processing techniques for performance improvement.
