A Sustainable Livelihood Approach to Poverty Reduction: Population and Socio-economic Development [Mizoram state is characterized as an agriculture dominated economy, as a large proportion of population (above 31.3 %) is involved in practicing agriculture. Further, shifting cultivation dominates (38.3 %) it. However, the return from crops grown under shifting cultivation is insufficient, even to support daily food requirement of the people.
