Abstract
[In the previous chapter, the theoretical dimensions of systemic functional theory were surveyed. Based on the systemic functional theory, this chapter will present a short overview of Chinese lexicogrammar to pave the way for the description of the lexicogrammatical system of modality in Chinese. The chapter will introduce the lexicogrammatical systems that represent the experiential, interpersonal, and textual meanings of the clause and the systems that realize the logical meaning of the clause complex respectively.]
