Art-of-LivingDevelopment of a Questionnaire Measuring Art-of-Living

Art-of-Living: Development of a Questionnaire Measuring Art-of-Living [Questions concerning happiness have drawn more and more interest. In philosophy, strategies and attitudes regarding happiness were dealt with under the topic art-of-living. In our study we will try to adapt the philosophical concept of art-of-living, thus allowing empirical psychological research. The study is based on the model described in the introductory chapter, which contains the components of art-of-living. First we performed a combined qualitative and quantitative survey, then a multidimensional questionnaire was given to an online sample of 1105 individuals. For validation purposes, the relationship to subjective well-being was examined. The results show that nearly two thirds of the variance in subjective well-being can be explained by the variance of the scales of art-of-living. A questionnaire measuring art-of-living is seen as a first step to facilitating interventions in this field. The next step is to improve the questionnaire both from a theoretical and an empirical basis. Finally we discuss a short form of the questionnaire for application in contexts which do not allow the usage of the complete questionnaire. In the previous chapter we described the advantages of our concept of art-of-living and presented our model. Now we attend to the development and empirical validation of a questionnaire measuring art-of-living. Therefore, we deal with the concept, the reliability, the factorial structure, and the validity of the instrument.] http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png

Abstract

[Questions concerning happiness have drawn more and more interest. Therefore, we deal with the concept, the reliability, the factorial structure, and the validity of the instrument.]
