[In the last couple of decades, EU cooperation in the fields of law enforcement and criminal law has evolved dramatically, with the UK driving that cooperation forward on a number of occasions. Brexit adds a layer of complexity and uncertainty as to the future of European integration in these fields and as to the ability of the EU and wider Europe to respond to the existing security challenges and threats. There seems to be little available in terms of a comprehensive overview of the future EU–UK relationship in the fields of police and judicial cooperation in criminal matters. This book aims to address this gap. Moreover, its finding could be transposable to the EU’s policy in these fields with other external partners.]
