[The leaders of the Vinson family office were puzzled by the survey findings: Almost every member of the cousin generation expressed minimal interest in annual family office meetings, which had been created in order for this generation of business- owners to understand the strategy and performance of the family business. The executives and directors were surprised there was so little interest in the operating company (which made components for large industrial machinery) that had generated so much of the family’s wealth, including that of the cousins.
