[A house may be used as a tourist accommodation—which an owner decides to open for various reasons. These owners have to deal with hospitality, privacy and tradition. In that case, privacy is more than a principle as tourist accommodation owners fight for in very practical ways. Hospitality comes as a second main concern and is particularly obvious in the paradoxical relationship between a friendly relationship and a commercial one. Finally, presenting a traditional house is a major concern. As no official document defines what is tradition, it can be sketched out by comparing what informants say about tourist accommodations and traditional houses. It comes out that owners engage in their own negotiation with tradition and (re)presentations of the past.]
