[Construction work is a way to make one’s house different from others. Various actors are involved in such work (owners, workers, members of institutions) and in the rules and permits related to these work. They also refer to several words (restoration, conservation, modernisation) and principles (tradition, spirit of the house, comfort) when talking about construction work. It appears that both Moroccans and foreigners living in the medina undertake such work but do not put heritage at the core of their experience. Construction work may be defined as a learning process—particularly for foreign residents. Finally, the notions of legality and the ruses are at the core of construction work.]
