Abstract
[In this chapter, the author makes a historical argument, describing what higher education looked like for early pentecostals. In the first half of the twentieth century, these efforts were rudimentary and limited to theological education but, contrary to popular opinion, it was not just because pentecostals had an anti-intellectual bias. Rather, other factors were at play as well, including (1) historical, (2) theological, and (3) socioeconomic factors.]
