Feelings change: accounting for individual differences in the temporal dynamics of affect.Journal of personality and social psychology, 99 6
[The study of affective aging provides unique insights into how personality influences healthy aging, as well as the assessment challenges associated with capturing personality states, traits, and processes. This chapter will give an overview about the current literature on affective aging. First, age differences and long-term change of affect will be presented and put into relation to well-established theoretical frameworks about aging. Second, the chapter will summarize current and state-of-the-art technologies of assessing state affect in everyday life, and how they serve as an extension to traditional measurements of trait affect. Third, example of correlates of state affect in the current aging literature are illustrated with regard to the impact of personality. Future avenues of affective aging research will be discussed by accounting for daily context and structure.]
