Abstract
[The introduction sets out to describe the issue of agingAging being perceived either as a challenge or problem for contemporary society. The links between positiveAging theoriesaging theoryPositive aging theory, active aging policyActive aging policy and views on agingViews on aging are outlined, and the main research questions and book aims are formulated. A further section of the introduction is dedicated to the methodological framework of the study that formed the base of the present book. Information is offered concerning the choice of study participants and episodic interviewsEpisodic interviews and their methodological relevance for answering the research questions. The last part of the introduction chapter provides a summary of all the chapters included in this book.]
