[Within leisure research, approaches to measuring quality of life (QOL) have often focused on place-centered indicators such as the frequency of leisure facility usage. Lloyd and Auld (2002) propose that person-centered criteria such as satisfaction with leisure experiences or attributes of leisure need to be included as well in order to offer a more comprehensive view. An underlying assumption of place-centered indicators seems to be for “policy outcomes that increasing the number of facilities and services will automatically enhance people’s QOL” (p. 43).]
