[This chapter is about the battle for Aleppo (2012–2016). It looks at war-related power-relation changes up to the conquest of the city by the Syrian Army and its first reconstruction attempts. It concentrates on a sub-war fought between the Syrian Armenian Aleppo populations and ethnic Turkmen militia dwelling in nearby areas. Armenian setting and religious places are here conflict loci because they witness the reproduction of foreign events. These are encapsulated and translated in the war everydayness. A number of ramifications departed from the Syrian War. The ethnography explains how for local Armenians events happening in Germany (e.g. German Parliament recognition of the Armenian Genocide) could become a relevant issue. Syrian Armenians connected local war-time episodes with transnational events, including the conflict between Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenian (e.g. desecration of tombs and monuments).]
