[This chapter discusses evidence related to the effects of technological, economic, political, and socio-cultural factors on wellbeing and positive mental health. I start out by presenting a theoretical model that can help the reader better understand how these macro factors can translate through a chain of events to ultimately influence wellbeing and positive mental health. With respect to the economic factors, I review evidence related to economic fluctuations, market openness, income inequality, unemployment, inflation, welfare system, and labor unions. Concerning the political factors, I review research on democratic governance, economic and political freedoms, participatory democracy, good governance, and war. With respect to socio-cultural factors, I discuss the effects of social quality, social capital, cultural values, social change, and the pace of life.]
