Abstract
[The age-profiles of most infectious diseases do not conform to the pattern displayed by the profiles of non-communicable diseases. Prominent in the infectious disease profiles are time-, or life-course-, or period-specific events and developments that have a lasting effect on several profiles simultaneously. Subduing infectious diseases directly boosted aging by allowing people to live more years, irrespective of cohort.]
