Abstract

[This chapter examines the future of the ‘war on terror’. It makes the case for countering radicalization through a holistic approach, one which includes how state practices and state crimes impact the micro-individual-emotional level. This chapter also examines the theoretical, social and political implications of the empirical analysis employed in the book. This chapter brings together all elements of the book to question what they mean for the study of the ‘war on terror’ and for the dominant ‘war on terror’ discourses that are prevalent in academic, social and political contexts. The book concludes by encouraging an analysis whereby state crimes are acknowledged, investigated and explored as variables which contribute to radicalization and the existence of Islamist terrorism.]
