[This chapter explores the changing circumstances effecting the process of transformation of two adjacent down-town Tel Aviv neighbourhoods. Observing the engagement of a varied population—veteran Israeli residents, foreign labour and asylum seekers and new arrival young better-off dwellers—and the evolving conflict and political intervention, the analysis tries to identify the complex socio-economic and architectural conditions that seem to impact the present-day and the options for future urban-life construction and transformation that are also revealed in other urban centres. The discussion offers some comparative observations conducted in a down-town Manhattan neighbourhood.]
