When we have love, we can feel warm, happy, and not lonely. —Student reflection, fall 2020 This article presents what we learned from this experience, he Early Childhood Education program at Borough of finding assets in a time of profound loss that will impact our Manhattan Community College (BMCC) prepares more than teaching approaches. We explore examples from what was available 600 students each year to be educators in early childhood when our studio classroom was not: a virtual museum exhibit, (birth–Grade 2) classrooms as teaching assistants or to recycled materials, and family members as creative partners.
