From a broad perspective, this can be seen as part of the perspectival change that transformed reflections on science from theory-centred to activity-centred – a shift often associated with the name of Kuhn, the ‘historical turn’, and/or the new sociology of science, although its origins were broader (in our field, an early witness is the work of Lakatos in the 1960s). During the 1980s and 1990s focus on scientific practice was becoming very widespread, but things were moving more slowly in the philosophy of mathematics (with significant exceptions like the work of Kitcher, Maddy and a few others). Finally, in the 2000s the current had gained significant momentum, and the time was ripe for an initiative like this collective http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png History and Philosophy of Logic Taylor & Francis
